Frequently asked questions
Do you store or see my photos?
No. Compression happens using your browser's built-in canvas — the image is drawn, resized and re-encoded on your device and never transmitted anywhere.
Why is my PNG not shrinking as much as JPG or WebP?
PNG is a lossless format with no quality setting, so hitting a small target size relies on reducing the image dimensions instead. For photos, JPG or WebP will usually get you a smaller file at similar visual quality.
What happens if my target size is smaller than possible?
The tool gets as close as it can while keeping the image readable, and tells you if it couldn't fully reach your target.
