About PhotoToolKit

PhotoToolKit is a small, focused tool: pick a target file size, drop in a photo, and get exactly that — compressed entirely in your own browser.

It exists because "compress my photo to under 50 KB for this form" is a surprisingly common, surprisingly annoying task — and most tools that solve it ask you to upload your photo to a stranger's server first. This one doesn't.

How it works, briefly

Your browser already has everything needed to resize and re-encode an image — the same technology behind the canvas element used in web graphics and games. This site simply automates that: it tries different quality and size combinations until your photo fits your target, then hands you the result. At no point does the image leave your device.

A note on this being an early release

This is a first, focused version. If something doesn't work the way you expect, we'd like to hear about it — see the Contact page.
